AO Veterinary Advisory Committee (AOVAC)

The AO Veterinary Advisory Committee (AOVAC) was set up, at the request of the AO Research and Development Committee, to:

1. evaluate preclinical models applied at the AO Research Institute in Davos
2. expand this evaluation to all AO funded projects using preclinical models.

The AOVAC is chaired by Jörg Auer and its tasks and responsibilities are:

1. To review and approve Standard Operative Protocols for preclinical models used at the ARI and for AO funded studies
2. To act as an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC):
   • Temporarily until the ARI has its own IACUC
   • For any AO funded study performed at a site that has no IACUC
3. To serve as a consulting/advisory committee for the head of preclinical surgery at the ARI and any researcher receiving AO funds
